Five For Fridays : Five Book Boxes to Check Out

There are a lot of book boxes floating around on the gram, the most popular ones seem to be Once Upon A Time, both the adult and the YA versions, and Owl Crate, but there are many lesser-known ones, so I wanted to share four I found really interesting and one that I get on a regular basis.

UNPLUGGED BOOK SUBSCRIPTION BOX

Unplugged encourages you to unplug, relax, and read with this subscription box. You can get this box in either Adult or YA options and it will include one new paperback or hardback book,  4-6 high quality bookish seasonal, or themed items such as candles, mugs, bookmarks, bookends, totes and so much more.

The boxes retail for 38.00 and auto-renew on the 15th of each month. You can also email them and get mystery boxes.

MY THRILL CLUB

My Thrill Club is for all of you Thriller fans. In fact, it is not only for thriller fans but also mystery and horror fans. This club is more like Book Of The Month Club, you only get books, though I have read that on occasion they will throw in a surprise.

You pick your genre and you will receive 2 hardcover books and a code for an e-book, so you are actually racking up 3 books each month. The price is broken down by monthly, which is 18.99 a month, 3 months at 54.00 or 6 months at 102.00, or a full year for 192.00. Shipping is free in the US. BUT..you can sign up for one of the long-term subscriptions to get the better price and if you are not satisfied after a few months, they will let you cancel and refund you the unused portion.

BOOKISH BOX

Like most of these book boxes, The Bookish Box is a monthly box with a new hardback book. I do like this one because you get a tee-shirt that ties in with the book. I love tee-shirts and have drawers and boxes of them from vacation and concerts.

You have the option of choosing adult or YA books and along with the tee, you will also receive a few other themed gifts. This does give you several options on your boxes, you can get a book, tee-shirt, and goodies, or you can just get books and goodies, or in the YA category, you can just get the goodies and tee-shirt minus the book.

The prices here vary depending on what you chose, and you also have the option to upgrade your tee shirt to other items like hoodies.

THE BOOKWORM BOX

Ok, I think this book box is super cool. First, it was founded by author Colleen Hoover. Second, it is a 501, which means it is a non-profit and all the profits from the box go to various charities. Third, it promotes indie authors, which I love, and what a great way to find your new favorite author. Fourth ...they have this program called Kindness Gift where for 15.00 you can send an anonymous person a book and some goodies, this is through the online store which you must check out because it has some great goodies! Plus...if you know someone who could use a bit of kindness there is a form to fill out to nominate them. How cool is all of that?

As far as the subscription boxes go, they have several different ones... like Digital Book Box where you receive 2 digital books and a digital letter from the author. The Author Stalker Box in which you will receive an autograph book, ebook, penmate ( these are so cute ), a letter from the author, Bookworm Box pen, and author swag.

There are so many options here so I just urge you to go to the website and check it out. Boxes are available monthly or for longer subscriptions and in adult and YA options.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE BOOK BOX

This book box is for people who do not like happy endings. It is the book box that I subscribe to and so far I have loved it. It is a newer book box, and while the books are not new releases they are all right up my alley. So far I have received The Virgin Suicides, The Secret History, an Agatha Christie book, and If We Were Villians. the categories usually are Southern Goth, Dark Fantasy, Psychological Thriller, Thriller, Horror, Mystery, Dark Fiction, Crime, Whodunnit, Whydunits, Gothic Fiction, Psychological Horror, Dark Romanticism, Detective Fiction.

Each box comes with the book, and 5 or 6 gifts along with a bookmark. The thing that I have really enjoyed is the enamel pins that come with most of them, which are coordinated to the book.

Like most of the boxes, they offer monthly to 12-month subscription plans which start at 33.00. If you follow along on insta, they will give you hints to their next box drop and you can also email to find out the book name, just in case you might think you have it. You can also email and skip a box in case you don't think you like it. I have done this and it was as simple as emailing them and letting them know.
