Stacking the Shelves for the Week of July 25-30

Image
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! Want to join in on the fun? Go to Reading Reality I was on vacation for the last 12 days and when I got home...wow! Not only did I get a pile of books in the mail, but while in San Diego I hit up a few of their Little Free Libraries and found a few books. They were so cute and creative and all jammed full of books.  So here is what I got... HEARTSTOPPER 1-3 BY ALICE OSEMAN I gathered these throughout our trip visiting bookstores trying to find them. MY DOG ROMEO BY ZIGGY MARLEY From Akashic Books. This picture book was released on July 27. My grandson Atlas loves to help me review so I always try to have a book ready for him. The story is lyrics from a Ziggy Marley song that is on his new children's album '

Blog Hop For Friday July 30th

Image
Book Blogger Hop is a weekly ( on Fridays) hop that asks a bookish question. It is hosted Ramblings of A Coffee Addict Do you have an online calendar to keep track of your reviews and posts or do you print out a calendar or list?  I have tried several times to keep an online calendar and just can't make myself do it. I am old school and love to have one in hand. When I first started keeping a planner, I used a Leuchtturm1917. I loved the flexibility it gave me to create my own pages, for exactly what I needed, but as I got busier, it got harder to keep up with. Now I use a Work-Life Balance Planner from Barnes & Noble. It is a 17-month calendar that has both a full month to view along with individual days that have plenty of room for me to write things. The day is divided up between WORK and LIFE..so I can keep things such as appointments to doctors, etc, from getting lost in my blogging plans. It has been a great help keeping track of cover reveals, book tours, ARC release da

Image
Every Friday Book Beginnings hosted by Rose City Readers  asks you to grab the ebook you are reading and share the first sentence or paragraph and then give your feelings on it or anything else that it inspires. Be sure to include the title and the author  I was so excited when we took a break yesterday and went to the bookstore ( I still haven't unpacked from vacation, but two weeks without yard work ...it needed tending to first ) While there I picked up a book that I have been wanting since before it was released, so I was excited!  So let's get to my Book Beginnings... THE LOST BOYS OF MONTAUK BY AMANDA M. FAIRBANKS On March 22, 1984, the Wind Blown, a commercial fishing boat, departed from Montauk Harbor on eastern Long Island around duck to begin its first trip of the early spring season. The four-man crew planned a weeklong trip to catch tilefish about 120 miles offshore. It was a gray, frigid forty-degree afternoon.  A light easterly wind indicated the possibility of a

We are kind of cheating this month and combining our regular Monthly Pick Post with our Five on Fridays...Does anyone else feel like July just started and now it is the last day? WHERE DID IT GO?? Cover Reveal: Then You Saw Me by Carrie Arrons

Carrie Aarons has revealed the cover for Then You Saw Me! Releasing August 12, 2021 Do you know what's guaranteed to send your heart into your throat? Opening the front door of your off-campus house to find the boy you had a crush on all through high school telling you he's the new subletter.   Of course, he barely knew I existed back then, and still doesn't even though we attend the same university. But in a house of six college kids, it should be easy to remain invisible while carrying a torch for him. After all, I'm skilled at being overlooked and playing second fiddle.   Except Austin Van Hewitt, my hometown's golden boy, doesn't get the memo. After we throw our first party of the year, I'm on his radar, and somehow my lips miraculously end up on his. The budding romance is one I've always dreamt about. As he shows more and more interest, I push aside the plaguing insecurity of never being good enough.   But then a letter shows up in o

Tuesday's Tunes: A Double Feature featuring Fair Visions and Karaboudjan

Image
I am sharing not one...but two new tunes today because I needed a bit of a pick me up! I just got home from two weeks' vacation...you know fun in the sun, playing in the Pacific Ocean, taking care of a kid with a stomach virus, figuring out who stole our credit card information and charged a bunch of crap on it...all the fun stuff. Yes..all that stuff happened, and we are fine, and it was still a great vacation, but I am having a hard time getting myself back into ..you know...regular life.  I chose these two songs for their fun and funky beats,  hopefully, they will get me moving and back on track of getting stuff done...like unpacking.  First up is Karaboudjan... From the Southern California-based indie-psych rocker Karaboudjan is his newest single Fallin Forwards. This is the fourth single off his debut solo album IMAGO, which is due out in September. The artist shares that Falling Forwards is about:  "  the frustrations of the creation of this project. I've played in

Book Date: What I Have Been Reading...

Image
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! This meme by  Kathryn at   The Book Date . Can You believe it is the last Monday of July? Guys, before much longer we will be filling our shelves with all the fun winter and holiday books. I have had a really good book month, but I image it will start to slow down due to being a busy season for me with the Moonbaby shop. One of the reasons I had such a great reading month is that we took a road trip to California and I had a lot of time trapped in a car listening to or reading books. Vacation was great ( kind Of ) I love going home to visit where I grew up. We had a fun time at the beach, it was Atlas's first time and boy was he excited, he has been talking about it since before the shut down... Anyway...on to the books... WHAT I READ L

Five For Friday: Five Historical Romances That Are Not WWII

Image
I love Historical Fiction, it is one of my favorite genres and always has been. But recently I feel like the only Historica Fiction out there takes place during WWII.  Don't get me wrong, as a Jewish person, the WWII period is a tragic reminder of our history and past, and I appreciate that people remember and write about it because it is something that does not need to be forgotten, but there is also part of me that thinks people are glamorizing the tragedy. I don't know, maybe it is just me. Anyway, I wanted to share five historical fiction books that can be read instead of the WWII that seems to fill the shelving of your local bookstore. PARK AVENUE SUMMER BY RENEE ROSEN This historical fiction was written in 2018 and takes place in New York City in 1965, on the cusp of women becoming more open about sex thanks to Helen Gurley Brown... Mad Men  meets  The Devil Wears Prada  as RenĂ©e Rosen draws readers into the glamour of 1965 New York City and Cosmopolitan Magazine, where
