Another hot week we had, our heat index was into 120 at one point, so needless to say we haven't gotten outside much this week. I am looking forward to fall if we are lucky enough to have one. Many times here, the weather goes from hot to cold in one day.
We finally picked out our siding and trim colors and put the deposit down on the siding. They will be able to start on it in Mid November, so we have a bit of a wait. We went with a Cypress color for the entire house with mocha trim. I think it will look nice and it is more of the coloring you usually see on Four square houses.
I am going with the barn red for my front door, which is a Craftsman style and original so I don't want to get rid of it. I am excited to get it done and see it all finished. It def needs it, the siding that is on it is cracked and faded. It was put on in the late 70s.

Has anyone watched the new Hulu TV show Reservation Dogs?
Most of it was filmed in the town I live in, and a few scenes were actually filmed outside of my house..
The night it premiered on Hulu they had a big screen up on the Council House square where we could watch it, and the stars showed up and watched it along with it. It was pretty cool watching them film during the late winter and spring, though sometimes it was a bit aggravating trying to move around because things were blocked off.
The show ( we have seen two of the episodes, the third is released on Monday ) is a satire about living on a reservation and has some pretty funny scenes in it. I don't know maybe we relate heavily to it because that is life around here where I live.
-----------------------------
We started on our dining room yesterday, hoping to get it finished in time for the holidays. We have been redoing each room in this old house one by one. There wasn't much to do in the dining room, we had to strip off the old wallpaper, which I usually hate but this time we bought a scorer, used that on the paper, then sprayed it with a mix of water and fabric softener, and the stuff came down so easy, I bet we were done with it in an hour
Silly me forgot to take a " before picture " but you can certainly see the difference in the paint color where the wallpaper used to be. It was a green and burgundy stripe pattern with a floral border, totally dated and time to go.
------------
Reading has been slow this week, we seemed to be busy doing other things and by the time bedtime rolled around I quickly went to sleep, I am hoping to get more in this coming week ( between painting the dining room trim )
Let me know how your week went by dropping your link in the comments!
I had just added Reservation Dogs to my TBW list after reading a good review on Paste. Very cool about them filming in front of your house and the stars being there to watch and everything.
I love your color choices. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I've never tried removing wallpaper. Our contractor painted over old wallpaper in the bathroom, but they took out the wallpaper in the kitchen. I still have a few more rooms to work on.
How fun to watch a show being filmed in your area! My grandparents allowed a movie to be filmed on their land when I was about 15 years old. Our house is nearby too. Of all the luck, I had band camp the week the movie was being filmed so I missed the entire thing!
Renovations are so tiring but everything is looking great! Hopefully this week is cooler!

Books Set in Another Time ( These can be historical, futuristic, alternate universes, or even in a world where you’re not sure when it takes place you just know it’s not right now. ) I found this one a bit difficult and really had to look on my shelves, because I do not read much other than contempory books, Well other than Tudor History and I didn't want to bog you down with 10 books on them. I could have. Several times over LOL. Anyway, I did manage to squeak out 10.... DRACULA BY BRAM STOKER Best Vampire book ever.... This week's subject is: Books on My Spring 2025 to-Read List Listen, I will be honest, I am a mood reader. I do make TBR Lists for every season, etc, but I rarely manage to read everything, or sometimes anything off of them...But here is my list which isn't really a Spring list, but what I'd like to get read before I start on my Beach Read craze! Meet Toadling. On the day of her birth, she was stolen from her family by the fairies, but she grew up safe and loved in the warm waters of faerieland. Once an adult though, the fae ask a favor of Toadling: return to the human world and offer a blessing of protection to a newborn child. Simple, right? But nothing with fairies is ever simple. Centuries later, a knight approaches a towering...

ReplyDeleteThat is way too hot. We've been lucky to have a relatively mild summer, usually it's muggy and humid this time of year. I hope you get cooldown!
