Tuesday Tunes: Rubber Band Gun " Be Together "
Oh the days of Foxygen, how I overplayed their debut album We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic. Even today I still find myself putting it on and dancing around to it. Jonathan Rado and Sam French played so well off each other.
I also remember the year when The Lemon Twigs were at SXSW, and every time I tried to get to see them play, it was full or I had an interview elsewhere. I never did see them and to this day haven't.
Now some members of both bands have teamed up with Rubber Band Gun, the project of multi-talented producer, engineer, and performer Kevin Basko to release a new single Be Together. The new single is off Basko's forthcoming LP Cashes Out, which is set to drop on November 2.
Be together is from a musical standpoint a feel-good tune, with upbeat key heavy melodies and starry-eyed background fuzz. It will easily get stuck in your head after first listen and have you swaying along as it plays repeatedly in your mind. Well...at least until you get back to the real thing. It also features some of the quirkiness that I love about everyone involved in this record.
The song was recorded live in Los Angeles and features Jonathan Rado of Foxygen and Eric Slick from Lemon Twigs.
I think I might have found a new favorite band <3
