Book Review: My Dark Self by Jessica Huntley

 SUMMARY:
Josslyn is a normal 28-year-old woman, but she holds a dark secret. She has a voice in her head who she calls Alicia ... who just happens to be a psychopath.
Josslyn must uncover the truth about who Alicia really is and deal with the deadly consequences of her own actions.

"My name is Josslyn and I'm a psychopath. Actually, that's not technically true....let me explain."

"My name is Alicia and I am a psychopath."

There are two people in my head, but Alicia is dangerous and I can't control her anymore.....but who (or what) is she?

Also, why do I get the feeling I'm being followed … and why don't cats like me?

TEE'S THOUGHTS:

Raise your hand if you had an imaginary friend when you were a child...
I know I did, I was an only child, my father and mother were in the military, we moved constantly.

Now raise your hand if your imaginary friend is still in your life... No? But... we have all had that inner voice that will occasionally tell us to do something or not to do something right?

But is that voice a psychopath?

Josslyn's is, her name is Alicia. She has been Josslyn's friend since she was a child, but now at the age of 28 Josslyn's "friend," Alicia wants a life of her own.

I have to admit, I wanted this book strictly based on the cover, and yes I have heard all the horror stories on reading a book for the cover alone, however, My Dark Self by Jessica Huntley wasn't the case. This book was wild AF.

I give many props to Huntley for having the imagination to weave such a thrilling creepy tale. She took one of the most normal things that we know and turned it on its head to terrify us. You will pick this book up and you will not put it down until you have finished, then you will have to sit for some time to process what you just read.

Written mostly from Josslyn's viewpoint, it is a twisted tale of secrets as she tries to figure out who Alicia is and also so she is.

This is the book you need for Spooky Season reading, it is a psychological thriller that will make your skin crawl and blow you away at the end.

And that isn't all... it's only part one of a three-part series called My...Self so we have more to look forward to!

Thank you to the author and to Kate Rock Book Tours for allowing me to read this insane book!
