Tuesday Tunes: Wasuremono " Hi "
Wiltshire quartet Wasuremono hae released a new single titled " HI ". along with it they announce the release date for the new album ‘Let’s Talk, Pt. 2’ - January 28th, 2022. It’s the second half of an ambitious double record, initiated with the release of ‘Pt. 1’ earlier this year via The Wilderness Records.
‘Hi!’ is the album opener, and an excellent introduction to the world of Wasuremono for the uninitiated. Matching dream-pop production with indie-pop sensibilities, it manages to marry childlike wonder with sophisticated musical and emotional depth. With songwriter William Southward operating out of his musical shed, he’s constantly tinkering and adding different elements and instruments to the sonic stew. The genus of ‘Hi!’ comes from one such purchase, as he explains:
“I bought this old wooden flute in a charity shop for a pound in my hometown of Bath, our Keys player Madelaine bet that I would never use it on a song. I stacked it like Brian May and wrote this Indie anthem.
It’s a song written for dreamers, and to those who take risks to pursue them.”
