IT IS MONDAY, WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Image
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! This meme by  Kathryn at   The Book Date WHAT I READ Not much has changed since last week. But I did manage to get the audiobook I was listening to finished... ANATOMY BY DANA SCHWARTZ I am still processing my thoughts on this one, it was not what I thought, however, I did not hate it, I just am not sure if I really liked it! WHAT I AM READING LORE BY ALEXANDRA BRACKEN First, let me say I DO NOT LIKE LONG BOOKS. If it is past 400 pages I spend the bulk of my time checking to see how many more pages I have left. Yes, I know this is all in my head, and I am trying to remedy this by adding longer books to my reading. Well, Lore is the first since I have made that personal challenge and it is going slow. Not because I do not like the book, y'a

Can't Wait Wednesday : The World Cannot Give by Tara Isabella Burton

Image
Can't-Wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa at  Wishful Endings  and gives us a chance to highlight books we are patiently waiting to fill up our TBRs with. THE WORLD CANNOT GIVE BY TARA ISABELLE BURTON Another day, another Dark Academia book for me to lust over. The World Cannot Give publishes in either March ( says Goodreads ) or May ( says NetGalley ) either or, I am wanting to get my hands on it and read away. You know I love me some Dark Academia stories. This one seems to have a weird religious twist so.... even better! SUMMARY When shy, sensitive Laura Stearns arrives at St. Dunstan’s Academy in Maine, she dreams that life there will echo her favorite novel,  All Before Them,  the sole surviving piece of writing by Byronic “prep school prophet” (and St. Dunstan’s alum) Sebastian Webster, who died at nineteen, fighting in the Spanish Civil War. She soon finds the intensity she is looking for among the insular, Webster-worshipping members of the school’s chapel choir, which is pr

Everyone loves Teaser Tuesday. My dad was in the Navy, and he was out on a ship about 9 months out of the year until I was about in the 6th grade, but when he was home, he never failed to read a bedtime story to me. I did get the occasional Dr. Suess, or Fairy Tale, I remember loving the tale of Thumbelina from a book set that I had gotten for Christmas one year. I thought those books were magical with their moving picture on the front cover. But, most of the

Blog Tour: Good Rich People by Eliza Jane Brazier

Image
Today is our day on the blog tour for the book GOOD RICH PEOPLE by ELIZA JANE BRAZIER. Pretty much a melding of CRUEL INTENTIONS ( who doesn't love that movie? ) and READY OR NOT, it is the perfect book for people who love survival game thrillers or stories that feature incisive commentary of issues of wealth and privilege. Check out our excerpt from the book: LYLA   I get so bored sometimes, I think I will do anything to stop it. I decide to make Graham dinner. He blames me for what happened.   We don't have anything in the kitchen except Moet-dozens and dozens of bottles that Graham's mother, Margo, keeps giving us, daring us to celebrate.   I decide to make spaghetti because it's European and I think I can manage it on my own. The housekeeper got spooked and left, so we've been ordering in. I need to hire someone before Margo does, but I like how our house looks with a little dust. It looks like people actually live here.   I go to my closet to choose an outfit

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! This meme by  Kathryn at   The Book Date It has been since October that I have had any fun with all the weekly things I do here on the blog and I am so glad I am back! So let's get right into what I am reading! NIGHT SHIFT BY ALEX FINLAY I really enjoyed Alex Finlay's previous book Every Last Fear, so when I saw Night Shift on Net Galley I knew I would want to read it. I am reading this on my kindle so I am a bit slower at finishing it due to mostly reading it at night when I do not want to bother my husband with lights being on...I mean I have to be nice, he gets up early to go to work. He tells me it doesn't bother him, but I feel like it is a nice thing to do! Here is the summary: It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Y2K is expected to end

Book Review: Come As You Are by Jennifer Haupt

Image
GOODREADS SUMMARY: Zane and Skye are two misfit teens drawn together by their love of music and their loneliness, both part of Seattle’s grunge scene in the early ‘90s. They dream of moving to L.A. together: Zane’s music career following the trajectory of Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder, and Skye drawing Picasso-esque portraits on the Venice Beach boardwalk. When a tragedy violently catapults them from best friends to lovers, their bond is forever strengthened and their relationship destroyed. Ten years later, they must come together as parents, putting aside abandoned dreams and broken promises. The question is: can they face the truth of who they are, and become the parents their daughter needs them to be? TEE'S THOUGHTS: Oh, how this book made me want to grab a comfy worn-out flannel shirt and a pair of Doc Martins, Come As You Are, the new book by Jennifer Haup t has the 90s vibe turned on full force, and I was there for it all! Naturally, the book's setting for this adventu

Book Review: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Image
GOODREADS SUMMARY: It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warne
