Book Date: Its Monday What Are You Reading
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! This meme by Kathryn at The Book Date
Another slow reading week but I finished up an audio and a book.
WHAT I AM READING
THE GHOSTS OF ROSE HILL BY R.M. ROMERO
This was a gift from my Birthday Book Club. In late January, when I was trying to fill my wish list, I was on my Bookstagram and saw someone speaking about this book. Not really telling details, but they had put it on a list of lightly haunted books. I liked what she said and loved the whimsical cover, so I put it on my list without further investigation. Fast forward to last night when I picked it up and turned straight to page one, not reading the summary on it, and the very first page started out about a Jewish family escaping Cuba. I was so excited to learn that this book has Jewish representation. There are times where it is just nice to really connect on a different level with characters in the book.
Also, it is written in Verse, which is wonderful to read. I'm just starting it but already in love with it.
Sent to stay with her aunt in Prague and witness the humble life of an artist, Ilana Lopez—a biracial Jewish girl—finds herself torn between her dream of becoming a violinist and her immigrant parents’ desire for her to pursue a more stable career.
When she discovers a forgotten Jewish cemetery behind her aunt’s cottage, she meets the ghost of a kindhearted boy named Benjamin, who died over a century ago. As Ilana restores Benjamin’s grave, he introduces her to the enchanted side of Prague, where ghosts walk the streets and their kisses have warmth.
But Benjamin isn't the only one interested in Ilana. Rudolph Wassermann, a man with no shadow, has become fascinated with her and the music she plays. He offers to share his magic, so Ilana can be with Benjamin and pursue her passion for violin. But after Ilana discovers the truth about Wassermann and how Benjamin became bound to the city, she resolves to save the boy she loves, even if it means losing him—forever.

ON MY KINDLE
Yes, I know this is the shortest book in history and I AM still reading it. I only read my Kindle when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't turn on the light. I have a kidney stone right now and my doctor has prescribed me meds that make me sleep like a baby, basically I pass out. So I am hardly reading it at the moment. I did, however, get fairly far in it in the ER Friday night when all I had was my phone with me.
ON AUDIO...
I am a sucker for Beach Reads...

Then Jana’s handsome brother adds even more sparkle to Beth’s days…and nights.
But when she catches Rick with another woman—like, with with—her visions of an idyllic family future disappear in one awful instant. Either she betrays her brother or she keeps his secret and risks losing the man she loves and her best friend.
WHAT I FINISHED
HUNGERSTONE BY KAT DUNN
Full stop...this book will not be for a lot of people. But I LOVED it. It is a take on the classic Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fenu, which influenced Bram Stoker's Dracula. It is a book about female rage, and seduction, and it was just delicious !
VICTORIAN PSYCHO BY VIRGINIA FEITO
Another book that would not be liked by everyone. I even found it extremely weird, and that is saying something!
That is it for the last week. I promise I will try and get Fall Risk read so it won't continue to show up on this post week after week!!
Drop your links so I can check out what you have been reading
