Book Review : Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Christmas has always been single mom Holly Goodwin Moore’s favorite time of year. The twinkly lights on the tree, the cookies in the oven, the snow on the ground. But she’s just not feeling it this year. The wedding in her ex’s family is almost here, her daughter, Lydia, is bursting at the seams to be a flower girl…and Holly couldn’t be dreading it more. She told a little white lie about having a new boyfriend as her plus-one, hoping to save face. She needs a date for the wedding…and she needs it now.

Ryan Caldwell wants to be free this holiday season. So even he isn’t sure how he landed in Shelter Springs, looking after his niece, Audrey, with his estranged father down the road. But when he meets Holly, she makes him want to belong for the very first time. So they make a deal: he’ll be her date if she’ll help him give Audrey a true Christmas to remember while her mom is away.

TEE'S THOUGHTS

It is that time of the year, the time that t reading turns to holiday reads. Yep, I am one of those people who want to live in a small town that is decorated to the hilt with shiny lights and fluffy ribbon. Where snow is sprinkled on every surface, and everyone is in a constant Christmas spirit, full of love and light. No scrooges in my fantasy town. I know. I know. I basically want to live in a Christmas fairy tale, but who doesnt right?
Did I mention I live in the South and I have yet to see a white Christmas, and I dont imagine I ever will, and oh yeah...did I mention I celebrate Hanukkah? Its ok however, because RaeAnne Thayne's newest holiday novel Snow Kissed, gave me everything I asked for in a Christmas read.

Holly is a single mom with a special needs daughter. Her ex has decided to get married and their daughter is going to be the flower girl. Of course Holly needs a date, and she needs a good one...enter Ryan, a sexy Military man living in California who is in town taking care of his niece over the holiday.

Holly and Ryan come together to fake a date to the wedding, but of course they needd to learn a bit about each other to pull it off...you know the spill. The two of them are thrown together in several cute dating situations, and it is fun to watcch them each fall a little bit more for the other durning this time. Both of the characters are likable, the chemistry is good between them, but both also have legit reasons not to get attached at this moment. This is pretty much a straight forward romance, however, the author slipped in a bit of drama with the daughter I wasnt expeccting, it was quickly wrapped up, a bit to quickly I thought.

Speaking of the daughter, I really enjoyed her. The aurthor wrote her character with respect, and she was joyuful and almost pure. The setting was also a favorite, I loved the small town they all lived in and I lived vicariously through the descriptions.

I did alternate reading and listing to the audio book of Snow Kissed. For the most part I enjoyed it, my main problem is all on me not the narrator, whom I enjoyed. I just have a pet peeve with one narrator that does both male and female parts, I have found most of the narrators try to sound ruff and gruff and it just comes off irritating. This narrator, changed her voice very little and even though I am not fond of that situation, I was able to manage through it just fine.

Like Christmas reads? Then this one is definetly one to put on your list.
