Welcome Back
Glad to have you back as we deep dive into each subscription and give you all the gritty details. How we break down the subscriptions so you can find the one that fits you. Cost, Quality/Design, Book Choices, Availability, Skip Policy, and Benefits.
This week we are going to break down one of the most controversial and sought out after special edition book box; Fairyloot! Fairyloot start in 2016 in the UK by two friends. They currently offer YA book and goodies, YA book only, Adult book only, Romantasy book only, Epic fantasy book only, Cozy fantasy book only. They also do multiple combo boxes such as 2 book combo YA + Adult, 2 book combo Adult + Romantasy, and 3 book combo YA + Adult + Romantasy. So, let's jump in.
Cost
Starting with the
Young Adult: This is a monthly subscription. They offer two boxes a book only and a book and goodies. The book only runs £20.00 + tax. Which converts to be about $22.78 in US.
The book and goodies offer you the monthly book plus 4 bookish items are £27.50 + taxes. Which is about $31.32 + taxes. Charged on the 1st of the month. They do also offer Prepaid monthly plans: a 3 and 6 month plan.
Adult Fantasy: This is only a book box subscription for 18 and older. They do not offer a goodie box option. The Adult monthly run £21.00 + tax or roughly $23.92 + taxes. Charged on the 5th of the month.
Romantasy Fantasy: The Romantasy is for 18 or older and monthly runs £21.00 + tax or roughly $23.92 + taxes. Charged on the 4th of the month.
They offer multiple prepaid monthly plans and book combo boxes.
YA + Adult: You'll receive the monthly YA and Adult book in one shipment saving money. This subscription is £38.00 + taxes which is roughly $43.28 + taxes.
Adult + Romantasy: You'll receive the monthly Adult and Romantasy picks. This combo is also £38.00 + taxes which is roughly $43.28 + taxes.
YA + Adult + Romantasy: In this combo you'll get the YA, Adult, and Romantasy monthly picks in one package. This combo is £57.00 + taxes and is about $64.92.
(Note: I did just switch from the 3-book combo to the 2-book Adult + Romantasy combo and the 3-book combo with taxes was roughly $91 a month and the 2-box combo is roughly $61 a month) (Gives you better estimate of what the subscription would cost you if your state side.)
They have two Quarterly Boxes
Epic and Cozy Fantasy: They each will be billed every three months.
They do not offer these in combo boxes since they are quarterly.
Epic Fantasy: This one cost £25.00 + taxes and is about $28.47. Will be billed every three months on the 2nd of February, May, August, and November.
Cozy Fantasy: This on is £24.00 + taxes and is about $27.33. Billed every three months on the 2nd of January, April, July, and October.
Skip Policy
All their subscriptions follow the same skip policies. You have 4 skips per a year. The 12 month period begins on the day you skip your first box. You also can not skip your first box in any of the subscriptions. They make it easy and you can skip in your user portal unless you're a prepaid box and want to skip multiple months in a row. You'll then need to email customer support.
Also says they don't allow to skip the month you've prepaid for but you can skip your next renewal.
(Note: I do not use the prepaid option so I cannot say if this is true or if they will work with you on the months you want to skip)
Availability
All their subscriptions are all currently on a waitlist.
The waitlist for each can take anywhere from 8 months to 1 year and half. They are one of the most sought-after subscription boxes.
Book Choices
This will depend on what you're looking for; but historically they are known for doing the most anticipated new releases. (Note: I do feel like lately they have been releasing less anticipated releases and using most anticipated releases as add On's. So, you're paying for a monthly subscription and then buying an add on for about the same price.)
I'll just give examples of the past three boxes for each so you can see the verity they do.
YA: The Gravewood by Kelly Andrew, Her Hidden Fire by Cliodhna O'Sullivan, The Sun and the Starmaker by Rachel Griffen.
Adult: Starside by Alex Aster, The Last Starborn Seer by Venetia Constantine, Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity.
Romantasy: The Wicked Sea by Jordan Stephanie Gray, Half City by Kate Golden, King of Ravens by Clare Sager.
Epic: The Tower of the Tyrant by J.T. Greathouse, The Bone Raiders by Jackson Ford, The Devils by Joe Abercrombie.
Cozy: The Faraway Inn by Sarah Beth Durst, Agnes Aubert's Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett.
Benefits
The benefits with Fairyloot are exclusive access to sales and special editions. They give subscribers early access before general access for additional special editions.
Quality/Design
This one is personal also. I was subscribing back in 2024 until Feb 2025 and regretted canceling my subscription shortly after but didn't reapply until July 2025. I had put my name on the waitlist for multiple of the subscriptions and in November 2025 I was able to get the 3-box combo. Then in May 2026 I was given the chance to switch to the 2-box combo which I decided to switch to. This was a personal choice because I do not read a lot of YA and so to be paying for a box with one book I don't pick up was pointless in my eyes. (But I did do the 3-box because I wanted the other two books and I knew that combo would be the shortest wait list due to cost and product. It's the most expensive and I know YA isn't highly sought-out after. While I waited for a spot to open in one of the others, I took the 3-book combo.)
The designs are some of my favorites in the past. They have recently gotten an in-house artist, so I have noticed some of the designs do seem to be repetitive. I still love the artwork but just pointing out small observations. I have had books come damaged, but when I email them, they respond in a timely matter and have replaced ever single damaged book I've had with no expectations. (Meaning they didn't ask for me to send the book back or destroy it and send pictures before they send a replacement.)
(Note: I have heard other have not so great experiences with customer support and replacements for damaged books.) (Also heard they updated their policy and listed is what the criteria is now for receiving a replacement.)
