Thirsty Thursday

 Welcome

If you didn't know this, I had tried starting this series back in 2021. It didn't last due to life. We all have been there done that. But better late than never so let me reintroduce Thirty Thursdays.

So, some of you may be asking what is Thirsty Thursday? Well, it's my version on a spicy scale for when reading romance, but more. In thirst I included tension, chemistry, male attractiveness, foreplay, and of course the Act itself. This then will want you to ask me well what kind of romance are you really talking about? I’m talking about what people are now calling smut or Cliterature. A genre that is becoming widely popular. At the same time everyone’s definition of “Smut” will be different. Some see it as erotic romance while others think there is a clear line between the two. Really, it's how you read and your preferences. My definition is Smut can stimulate between the ears as well as between the legs. In the comments let me know your idea of what smut is?

This week is more of an intro. I will be posting my thirsty scale below. Also, list some sub-categories that I have already dipped my toes into. I am not a smut expert. I just want to share some of the ones I have found that I have really enjoyed and I want to see if anyone has any recommendations for me.

Everyone has their preferences and that’s OK this is just my preference and how I rate the thirst in the books.

Key: T=Tension, C=Chemistry, M= How Hot is this Man, F= Foreplay, S= Sex scene

One Cocktail🍹or I'm not that Thirsty: Tension is nonexistent or little. Ex: love at first sight. Chemistry is just enough to catch each other's eyes a couple time in a crowd. Male Attractiveness is just there enough for you to look at the man and think why not. Foreplay is probably some heavy kissing and some griding. Sex scene can include anything from fade to black to some paragraphs with very little description details but will not be leaving you wanting another sip of that cocktail.

Two Cocktails🍹🍹or this drink is yummy I could do another: Tension is beginning to build. More heated looks, more accidental/not accidental touches. Chemistry is more obvious, not quite a spark yet but almost. Male Attractiveness makes you do a double take, becoming your type but still missing something. Foreplay and Sex scenes will be more descriptive wording but with very nondescriptive words.

Three Cocktails🍹🍹🍹 or is this a new favorite drink? : Tension will be building, the longing, the anticipation, the desire. Chemistry will be more palpable. You could start to feel the electricity between the two. Male attractiveness is beginning to sound more and more like your type. Such as physic is there but face is wrong or vice versa. Foreplay becomes the main focus, and the sex is just there an in and out. Maybe just get the guy off to be fair. The drinks were good this time, but will they be just as good the next time.

Four cocktails🍹🍹🍹🍹 or this is my drink, bartender another round: Tension is elevated. The question of will they or won't they will just be When will they. Chemistry will be hitting. The banter, the acts of love they do foreach other, what they have in common that makes them fit together will be obvious at this point. Male attractiveness is he's your guy but with one fatal flaw. (so not quite book boyfriend material but close) Foreplay and Sex scene frequency will increase. The detail of bodies and acts become more elaborate. You will begin to order this drink everywhere you go (aka this will become a auto buy author for you)

Five cocktails🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹or this drink is so damn good I don't care if I'm drunk (on smut):
In your face! Tension will leave you yelling Fuck already!!!! Chemistry is going to be so much you can feel like sparks on the page. Male attractiveness he made it to Book Boyfriend tier. He's your man and you'll go to war for him. (In the comments leave me who you book boyfriends are?) Foreplay and Sex scenes describe every detail to the point you could sketch it if you had artistic skills. Uses choice wording. Has more of the taboo subjects. Makes you want to act it out with your partner. 😜

This is just an intro to Thirsty Thursdays so make sure you come back next week when I give an example for on each drink in the Thirst scale.
