Can't Wait Wednesday : Never Saw Me Coming by Vera Kurian
Can't-Wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings and gives us a chance to highlight books we are patiently waiting to fill up our TBRs with.
Ever since I read Donna Tartt's The Secret History I have been a huge fan of Dark Academia. Actually, give me any book that takes place on a college campus and I will tear through it.
There have been quite a few released this year and my shelves are full of them. I am not sure if you would consider them all dark academia, but they certainly all have a close resemblance to the genre.
My Can't-Wait Wednesday is yet another one, it is dark, and it takes place on a college campus and I am dying to get my hands on it...
Never Saw Me Coming
Hardcover, 400 pages

SUMMARY
Meet Chloe Sevre. She’s a freshman honor student, a leggings-wearing hot girl next door, who also happens to be a psychopath. Her hobbies include yogalates, frat parties, and plotting to kill Will Bachman, a childhood friend who grievously wronged her.
Chloe is one of seven students at her DC-based college who are part of an unusual clinical study for psychopaths—students like herself who lack empathy and can’t comprehend emotions like fear or guilt. The study, led by a renowned psychologist, requires them to wear smartwatches that track their moods and movements.
When one of the students in the study is found murdered in the psychology building, a dangerous game of cat and mouse begins, and Chloe goes from hunter to prey. As she races to identify the killer and put her own plan into action, she’ll be forced to decide if she can trust any of her fellow psychopaths—and everybody knows you should never trust a psychopath.
Never Saw Me Coming is a compulsive, voice-driven thriller by an exciting new voice in fiction, that will keep you pinned to the page and rooting for a would-be killer.

This sounds like my kind of book.
ReplyDeleteWhat a premise! I definitely want to check this one out. I'm really curious about the clinical study for psychopaths. That could be very interesting! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting premise. I'm starting to see the "dark academia" term bandied around and wondering what it is exactly. :D
ReplyDeleteDark academia is a book that usually takes place in a boarding school or College and is dark, it can have murder or something like that in it. One of the best is The Secret History by Donna Tartt the author of the Gold Finch
DeleteVery interesting cover! I have not heard of dark academia, what is it exactly?
