It's Monday , What Are You Reading
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! This meme by Kathryn at The Book Date
Oddly enough I have felt that I was behind on my monthly reading all week. I still haven't finished The Lost Boys Of Montauk. Luckily my husband pointed out to me that it was only the beginning of the second week of August and I had finished two books already, how could I possibly be behind.
I have been reading two physical books, a kindle book, and listening to an audible so I had to make myself realize that it will take me a bit longer reading all these books at once because I am dividing my time between all of them instead of one. I have calmed down and am fine with my progress now LOL.
So on with the post...
WHAT I AM READING
I am not much of a fantasy reader, but when these came out I loved them. Here on the blog Ro and I are rereading the series and I am really enjoying them again. In fact, I have caught things I never caught the first time, and the story feels different to me. I have been doing a bit of a deep dive into them as I read, they are all full of sticky flags and post notes where I have found things that just hit differently this time. I am hoping to finish up the book by the end of the week.
I am also winding this one down this week, most likely today while I sit in the waiting room of a doctor's office. It has been a good read, but I spend less time with it than I do TMI so it has been a slow read.
Just started this yesterday on Audible. This is a psychological thriller that came out this spring and pays homage to the classic Daphne du Maurier tale Rebecca
I have trouble sleeping so I read on my kindle at night so I do not disturb my husband. The Summoning could be classified as a thriller/horror. I am halfway through and just now something has started to happen. Not saying it has been bad up until this point, it is just a bit of a slow burner.
It is about a widow who lost her husband on 9/11 and to make money she fakes seances and things are getting a bit spooky for her. I can handle slasher, and psychological type thrillers, but things like this kinda creep me out because you just don't know, do you?
WHAT I READ...
Just finished this book on my kindle recently. The story was well written, however, it was lost on me because I disliked the characters. I could not connect with them at all and that seemed to spoil the entire book for me. Supplied to me by Netgalley this book releases on September 14th.
Deception by TJ Blake
Listened to this on audio, it was interesting? I am not sure where it was going, and I am not sure it ever got there. The premise of the story is good...widower trying to find love, falls in love with a crazy person...but it was just weird. Maybe not weird, the woman in the story was certainly strange, but honestly so was the lead character. There were some really good chapters here, but the ending just seemed to fizzle out and felt like a cop-out.
WHAT I AM READING NEXT...
I plan on having both Montauk and TMI finished in the middle of the week so am hoping to start two books..
For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten
After saying I don't read much fantasy, here I am again with yet another one! This is August's Two Girls And Friends Book Club pick so I am diving in. Ro is a big fantasy reader and I always love our thoughts afterward when we totally disagree on a book. This might be one of them, but then again, it might be something I love.
?
Like all readers, book bloggers, and bookstagramers I have shelves full of unread books. I usually make a monthly TBR list and read by it, but this month the only books I promised myself I would read was my two buddy reads. So I am just going to cruise my shelf when I am ready for another book and see what I am in the mood for. I will let y'all know next week?
Hope all of you have a great reading week...drop me a comment and let me know what you are reading..I always drop by and check out your page when you do!
Her Perfect Life looks good! I enjoy this author. Thanks for sharing, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
ReplyDeleteThe premise of The Summoning sounds interesting though horror isn’t really my thing.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
I am not sure if it is really horror, I'm not sure where it belongs honestly. It does have some aspects of horror, but I dont find it scarey or anything and I am not a horror lover either
DeleteI have that Cassandra Clare series on my physical TBR mountain and have had it there for years. I keep promising to begin it soon but other books keep jumping ahead of them in line. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
