The 28th Awaits

Hey guys. I want to try something new for the 28th of every month. I’m going to try and predict my 5 star reads but here’s the kicker. I’m a huge mood reader so what I think I’m going to read in September might not be read at all. Sounds fun right. Well were going to try.

The first Two are Buddy Reads. Will I love them 🤷🏻‍♀️

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her—his mother just found out that he’s a vampire, and now he’s homeless. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Prediction: This one no I’m pretty sure this wont be 5 stars. I get really annoyed with the main characters most the time I have to put it down walk off my frustration and come back to finish it.

Edward Fosca is a murderer. Of this Mariana is certain. But Fosca is untouchable. A handsome and charismatic Greek tragedy professor at Cambridge University, Fosca is adored by staff and students alike―particularly by the members of a secret society of female students known as The Maidens.

Mariana Andros is a brilliant but troubled group therapist who becomes fixated on The Maidens when one member, a friend of Mariana’s niece Zoe, is found murdered in Cambridge.

Mariana, who was once herself a student at the university, quickly suspects that behind the idyllic beauty of the spires and turrets, and beneath the ancient traditions, lies something sinister. And she becomes convinced that, despite his alibi, Edward Fosca is guilty of the murder. But why would the professor target one of his students? And why does he keep returning to the rites of Persephone, the maiden, and her journey to the underworld?

When another body is found, Mariana’s obsession with proving Fosca’s guilt spirals out of control, threatening to destroy her credibility as well as her closest relationships. But Mariana is determined to stop this killer, even if it costs her everything―including her own life.

Prediction: I really hope this one is 5 stars. I loved The Silent Patient but this has been so hyped and me a hyped books don’t always go together. This is the September Buddy read for our Two Girls and Friends Book Club. If you want to read with us you still have time to join!

Comes a dark romance about the battle of wills between a dominant pack leader and a woman whose compliant wolf undermines every dream she's ever had.

Prediction: This I have a feeling will be 5 star book 1 and 2. I personally love werewolf/ shifter books. I have read A LOT and very few fall short for me. I also have been in a smut hole and this is described as a dark romance and I’m really loving a lot of these non paranormal dark romances so why wouldn’t I love a dark paranormal romances?
* possibly you’ll see this again on a Thirsty Thursday ( we shall see)

The shadows are in my blood.

I can feel them crawling through me, slithering under my skin and taking me hostage.

But the darkness within me, isn't nearly as bad as the darkness that lives around me.

The four heirs will stop at nothing to destroy the lives of me and my sister.

But they haven't figured out yet, we're the strongest creatures they've ever known...

Prediction: Book 1 through 3 were all 5 stars so why wouldn’t book 4 be? I’m a slightly addicted to this series. I’m trying to slow down my read through them mostly because it’s a 8 book series and book 7 was just released. I’m one who loves to just binge read a series all at once. I don’t care to put it down and years later come back to it. So while I want to devour this and tell everybody about it; I also want to slowly savor it so that by the time I’m done with book 7 I wont have to wait long for book 8. Good thing about this series is there are two spin-off series that connect to the same world with some character cross over. So I guess if I do lose control I can just move onto those. Which I think will be in my 5 star predictions in the future.

If the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.

Cindy loves shoes. A well-placed bow or a chic stacked heel is her form of self-expression. As a fashion-obsessed plus-size woman, she can never find designer clothes that work on her body, but a special pair of shoes always fits just right.

With a shiny new design degree but no job in sight, Cindy moves back in with her stepmother, Erica Tremaine, the executive producer of the world’s biggest dating reality show. When a contestant on Before Midnight bows out at the last minute, Cindy is thrust into the spotlight. Showcasing her killer shoe collection on network TV seems like a great way to jump-start her career. And, while she’s at it, why not go on a few lavish dates with an eligible suitor?

But being the first and only fat contestant on Before Midnight turns her into a viral sensation—and a body-positivity icon—overnight. Even harder to believe? She can actually see herself falling for this Prince Charming. To make it to the end, despite the fans, the haters, and a house full of fellow contestants she’s not sure she can trust, Cindy will have to take a leap of faith and hope her heels— and her heart—don’t break in the process.

Best-selling author Julie Murphy’s reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is an enchanting story of self-love and believing in the happy ending each and every one of us deserves.

Prediction: I’m obsessed with Disney so when I heard that Disney Publishing recently launched an adult-focused publishing line with Disney Characters at the forefront I knew I had to read it. They plan to do retelling of seems like all the Princesses because they reported that they plan to release 60 over the next 5 years. I have a feeling I will own them all and will all be five stars.

Miranda Fitch’s life is a waking nightmare. The accident that ended her burgeoning acting career left her with excruciating, chronic back pain, a failed marriage, and a deepening dependence on painkillers. And now she’s on the verge of losing her job as a college theater director. Determined to put on Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well, the play that promised, and cost, her everything, she faces a mutinous cast hellbent on staging Macbeth instead. Miranda sees her chance at redemption slip through her fingers.

That’s when she meets three strange benefactors who have an eerie knowledge of Miranda’s past and a tantalizing promise for her future: one where the show goes on, her rebellious students get what’s coming to them, and the invisible, doubted pain that’s kept her from the spotlight is made known.

With prose Margaret Atwood has described as “no punches pulled, no hilarities dodged...genius,” Mona Awad has concocted her most potent, subversive novel yet. All’s Well is the story of a woman at her breaking point and a formidable, piercingly funny indictment of our collective refusal to witness and believe female pain.

Prediction: I have only read Bunny by Mona Awad but I loved the weird creepiness of it. I’m hoping we can get the same from All’s Well. I know it does do more with acting Macbeth and I’m not a huge fan of Macbeth but if it’s weird and creepy like bunny I wont care and Mona will have another five stars from me.

These are the book I know I’ll definitely be reading next month. I do know I’ll probably pick up at least two more Smut reads and a thriller from the library. Normally I will listen to a smut off scribd or one off my audible account that I have in my downloads. I want to predict those but normally when I’m in the mood I’ll look until one pulls me in with the cover. Stay tune for Thursday when I’ll discuss them more. I also will normally pick up a thriller from the library because lately me and thrillers haven’t been vibin. That is another hard one to predict because normally its what they have available.

Let me know down below if you have any recommendations or what your 5 star predications for September will be.

  1. What a great idea for a blog post! If the Shoe Fits was a five star read for me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
