Book Blogger Hop " How Do You Read A Book Series ? "

The primary aim of the Book Blogger blog hop is to facilitate connections among bloggers, encouraging them to follow one another, explore new book titles, and increase their audience.

This week's question is:
" Do you prefer to read a series one book after another, or can you read other books in between? "

I am not a series reader, I tend to lose interest in the story, especially if it goes past three books. I do read a lot of the first books and never go further, especially if it is not necessary in the story. I noticed in several romance books I have read, that after the first one they will pick two characters out of that book and continue their story in the next book, these are the ones I stop with the first one.

The one series I did read was The Mortal Instruments, I read the first four books the minute each came out. The fourth one made me so mad I threw it across the room, cussed at Cassandra Clare, and didn't read the rest until about two years ago when the girl who started the blog with me did a group read with them. I had to begin with book one again and we read one for the next six months, but between the time I threw the 4th book ( City of Glass )  and finally picked up book five was 10 years lol.

Comments

  1. That's too funny about the Cassandra Clare book. LOL I only read the first one of that series--then saw the movie and decided not to continue with the books because I didn't like the movie so much. I know that wasn't fair given they are two different mediums, but there you have it. I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. I love a good series, but the key word is good. it has to be a story worthy of more than one book.

  3. I like the Mortal Instruments series. I love to read series and like when there are multiple books in a series.

  4. I used to be a voracious series reader but not anymore. I mostly read stand alones or, at most, a duology.
For the few series that I have picked up, I haven't continued or worried about.

  5. I used to read series one after the other, now I get sucked into Blog Tours so don't have the time.

I love Cassandra Clare. I have only read a couple of series of hers, but my favourite is The Infernal Devises.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. I don't read romance so I would not know how much I would like the series there. But I have read a few wonderful series by Ken Follett, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, or Amitav Ghosh, for example. I do prefer to read them in one go but often I discover the first book and then have to wait a couple of years for the next one. That I don't like.
