Tee, Bryn, and Ro...
I read all 19 chapters in one morning. I have truly enjoyed the book, it’s dark, witty, humorous and intriguing. The humorous part is the Dark Lord’s reputation but Arabella discovers all the people under his reign are comfortable and happier than other countries. Another thing I like is how he doesn’t force himself on her, other than kidnapping her. He has been fair man. 😂 I also think Griffon’s quirks are adorable. I think Arabella wants respect and known as her own person, not a pawn.
ReplyDeleteI love Griffon..... Tee
DeleteI read my 19 chapters and wanted more. Had to start a whole new book to occupy my reading time. I'm enjoying the book! Although I like fantasy, this is different then what I've read before. I'm quite sure I haven't read anything that can be categorized as "dark" so this book is well outside of my usual. I think most of Griffon's lines are hysterical. I find myself laughing out loud, literally and often. The part about goats blood, naked rituals and doing something without all the fun parts was when I decided I needed to highlight and start annotating this book. That's never something I want to do, but I had to mark these hilarious lines. I think Arabella is in it for the freedom. I think we'll learn that her dad was worse then she realizes and The Dark Lord will offer a nice balance. I look forward to know more. I'm placing bets, that Arabella gets the power that the Dark Lord is working so hard for. But time will tell.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love the Chapter headings, they will have you laughing. My favorite so far: Argue with your bride ( Its foreplay for Villians ) The banter between Kazimer and Arabella is on point, its snarky, yet almost cute. The humor starts right away, on PG 2 they are discussing which Princess of which kingdom should be kidnapped, and get tangled up with all the Violets until it aggravates Kazimer. I like Kazimer. I kind of feel like he is this bumbling kind of Dark Lord and isnt as " Dark " as he lets on. Several times he shows that he isnt going to make Arabella do something she doesnt want to, and rumor has it that the village people are well treated. The side characters carry so many of the scenes, I love Griffon, and also Vex , both seem to be loyal to Kazimer, but they also really like Arabella. Both give Kazimer some good advice when it comes to Arabella, and he seems to plan on attempting some sort of it, which could be very funny.
I am glad that Bea and I picked this book for our very first Blog Buddy Read, but it may be hard to live up to when we do another,
