GIRLS AT THE BOOKSTORE READ ALONG : THE DARK LORD'S GUIDE TO DATING PT 2
Welcome to our second stop on The Dark Lord’s Guide to Dating (and Other War Crimes) readalong!
We’ve made it through 38 chapters, and now it’s time to chat once again. Whether you’ve been highlighting favorite lines ( I have been ), laughing out loud, or simply trying to figure out what on earth is happening, we would love to hear your thoughts.
Feel free to answer the discussion questions below, but don’t feel limited by them. Tell us what surprised you, what made you laugh, who you’re rooting for, or what theories you’re already forming. Did a particular scene stand out? Is there a character you’re loving (or loving to be annoyed by)?
And if you’re reading along later in the month, don’t be shy about jumping into the conversation. You can reply to someone’s comment, share your own thoughts, or answer any of the questions that catch your eye.
Most importantly, keep it fun. There are no wrong answers here—just book lovers talking books.
Happy discussing!
This week's discussion Questions:
1. How do you feel about the Dark Lord giving Arabella a way out of the marriage with a dragon?
2. Why do you think Kazimer won't tell Arabella about the heirloom and its conditions?
3. How do you feel about eyeball golf?
4. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?

Next week's reading is Chapters 39-58. Happy Reading and see you back here next weekend!!
First off I am in love with Nyx. I wasn’t expecting any dragons in this book and now I love it even more! I was dying laughing at eyeball golf. I was worried they were going to make Kazimer seem like a villain but then not do villainy things so eyeball golf and his visit to Arabella’s tower fixed that! I have a feeling that he will not tell her what is going on for 2 reasons. I think he wants her to choose him on her own to know it’s real. I also think he thinks he could possibly kill her with their powers if they mingle to strongly. It’s merely a hunch I don’t have solid proof just experience reading other books that involve powers. Poor Griff. Losing his familiar like that.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by Nyx also!!!
DeleteOK so I enjoyed these chapters but many parts I felt it had that " Middle book syndrome " of a trilogy. It was slow in parts. Yep, I know they are getting to know each other, and we are getting to know them, but I did find it slow in parts. I also found many things to enjoy about it. Arabella's drago, eating Griffins familiar...eye ball golf. I loved the part where Kazimer attempted to drug her so she would be more umm ....loving toward him ( you know what I mean ) and it just made her sleepy. I am still loving Vex, her humor is so dry, and dry humor always gets me, it is one of the reason I am such a fan of British comedy. I also loved the dinner they attended with Morana, and Arabella getting jealous and grabbing Kazimers hand, then his little play as they went home with the horse showing her that two can play her games. The was more tension between them in these chapters, ( see page 238 ) and I liked that....stupid Kazimer stopping it was an ugh moment.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to watching them grow closer, I am hoping for some humorous moments in that happening. Also, I think Kaz hasnt told Arabella about the Heirloom requirements, becuase he thinks she would have sex with him to help the cause and he really wants her to come to him on his own. We all know he likes her. The eye ball golf...it was a great idea for a wicked game, but what I liked the best was Griffen telling Arabella that the eyeballs came from people that would want him and Kaz dead and then said " Think of it as recycling " Looking forward to next weeks reads.
I'm really liking this. Nyx seems amazing and I'm looking forward to that relationship. Clearly TDL isn't threatened by her riding off later. He either won't care in a year or thinks Arabella won't leave given a chance. I do like that they are admiring from a far and aren't just falling into bed. NonCon isn't really a thing I enjoy reading about, but slow burn is wonderful. I like all the world building with cracks in the foundation and portals to other floating islands. Makes everything feel very fantasy, which my normal everyday reads don't even hint at.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I have a favorite character. Arabella and TDL relationship is lots of fun, but I'm not sure if either has pulled into 1st place as a favorite. Griffin is great in every scene but not sure if he's my favorite either.
I adore the book more I read. I wasn’t expecting a baby dragon to show up. I love how Kaz gave her a way to escape if she chooses to. I’m still liking Arabella, she is so powerful and her real evil father made her doubt. As for Griffon! 😂 He was hardly fazed that his familiar died and was more interested in the dead body.
